The compilation is finding the "libncarg.a" library somewhere, because
otherwise the compilation would have failed and said something
like "cannot find libncarg.a".

Do you have multiple versions of NCAR Graphics installed on your
machine?

When you ran the NCAR Graphics "./Configure" script, where
did you tell it to install the software?
