Fwd: installing NCL on ubuntu 11.10

Dear all

I am new to NCL!

i am using ubuntu 11.10 (32-bit) on my laptop.
here are the details:
*root@waheed-Compaq-610:/usr/local/bin# uname -a

root@waheed-Compaq-610:/usr/local/bin# gcc --version

i have downloaded
*
http://www.earthsystemgrid.org/download/fileDownload.htm?fileAccessPointId=9a074f28-fb20-42f0-a78d-0c4f6d733f16

and extracted in* /usr/local/*
and then
*cd /usr/local/bin*
i can find ncl here

when i run ncl in command line..it gives error:

*root@waheed-Compaq-610:/usr/local/bin# ncl
ncl: error while loading shared libraries: libssl.so.0.9.8: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory*

Your help is required to install it!
