Lonitude tick mark spacing + res@pmTickMarkDisplayMode = "Always"

Hello,

I like the tick mark labels I get when I set:

        res@pmTickMarkDisplayMode = "Always"

when using:

        gsn_csm_contour_map_ce

But I don't always like the default spacing of lat and/or lon lables.

I tried adjusting the default spacing using:

         res@gsnMajorLonSpacing

only to find out that this is ignored if res@pmTickMarkDisplayMode = "Always".

Does anyone know of ways around this problem?
