I don't think there is a built-in function for this.

In hydrostatic models, for example, the surface pressure is
a prognostic variable thus should not have to be diagonised
unless it is lost.

If you have the (virtual) temperature and geopotential height,
and surface height, you should be able to calculate ps
from the hypsometric equation
(see the text book by Wallace and Hobbs, for example).
