[1] I do not know of any WRF code to do this.
    However, I am not affiliated with WRF in any way.
    Hence, this is being cc'd to wrfhelp_at_ucar.edu

[2] There is the example Saji pointed out. There are a couple of others.
    
    [a] If your projection is Mercator, see Example 5:

    [b] Lambert Conformal?

        No ready WRF example but you can look at Example 4
        for the NARR [North American Regional Reanalysis]
