Jack,

Would you please post the error message you got? I am not aware of
any pathname length limit to open a workstation. I believe I have
opened NCL workstations with long pathnames on many occasions.

Also include the relevant part of your source code, the exact
pathname you used, and your installation identification such as
output from "uname -a". With that, perhaps someone can spot the
problem.
