problem reading table

Dear NCL users,

I'm trying to read a table in which there is a column with dates as
follow 19990801000000, but using both readAsciiTable and asciiread
functions I have the same values for entire column, 19990801547264.00

I tried to read it as float and double types, but result same values.

Am I missing something?
