Has any one experienced the following and successfully
corrected it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm
using Cygwin/X on a Windows Machine. Thanks a bunch.

I found an entry in ncl talk logs that reference the same
error, citing an error in setting the environment
variable. The directory where ncargpath.exe,
ncarlogo2ps.exe, ncl.exe, ncl_convert2nc, ncl_filedump,
ncl_grib2nc and ng4ex reside is "/bin/local/bin. I then
manually entered "export NCARG_ROOT=/bin/local/bin"
"export PATH=(/usr/local/bin $PATH)"

After each a normal prompt was returned. I then issued
"ncl" and received a normal prompt back, not the ncl
prompt. On line it says issuing ng4ex gsun01 is an easy
check to see if ncl is working. I got "bash: fg: %: no
such job" back and then the bash prompt again.
After all of this I can no longer "ls" in
/bin/local/bin. I receive the message "bash: ls: No such
file of directory"
