This can be done, but you are not going to like it. You are going
to really want to do it. It makes heavy use of the text function codes
to position the desired accents. It is somewhere down on our list to
add accented and umlauted characters but doing that for all fonts
and all possible accents and umlauts is not going to be done in the
near future. And then there are cedillas and tildes to worry about.
And carets.

See the attached NCL script that plots "Ete" with the appropriate
acute accents.
