usage of NhlNewMarker on a linux system

Hello,

I appear to have the same error as is reported in the email 'strange
Linux error' posted on March 16 2007. However the solution posted
doesn't work in my case.

I am using NCL Version 4.3.0 and the system I work on is: Linux bhw036
2.6.16.21-0.8-smp #1 SMP Mon Jul 3 18:25:39 UTC 2006 i686 i686 i386
GNU/Linux

I am unable to use the code as is given in Example 4 of NhlNewMarker
because it gives an error message by the line where NhlNewMarker is used.
