I too have done this but for a webpage that uses GrADS though it doesn't
matter too much which plotting tool in this context. I crop the plot
and use those cropping parameters to automatically generate the image. I
produce a global plot which makes it easier to crop. If you produce CE
plots, you probably can automate the cropping parameters as they would
be linearly related to the lat/lon.

(there is some debugging output). You can get a kml and kmz file to
download. The resolution should be increased and I will get around to
that someday :)
