why isn't this colormap accepted?

I keep getting this message as soon as my script starts to execute:

fatal:CvtStringToCmap:Unable to convert string "WhViBlGrYeOrReWh" to
ColorMap
^Mwarning:Error retrieving resource wkColorMap from DB - Using default
value

I don't understand why. My script is almomst a copy of a colleague's,
NCARG_ROOT
is set like his (on the same system), and my .hluresfile is a copy of his.
