Dear Guilherme,

I checked your input file “01jan1950.nc”. The variable “air” is stored as
type "short" with a scale_factor and add_offset. So first you have to
convert your data to float by using the function “short2flt”. Please check
the examples in webpage

The high values may occur because you did not declare the missing value in
your script.

For an example

t@_FillValue = -9999
