Hi Dr. Pandey,

In order to run NCL, you need to set some environment variables. These
are
UNIX variables that customize your environment so that when you log in,
it knows where to find the software whenever you try to run ncl.

Of particular importance is your PATH environment variable, which tells
your system where the "ncl" executable actually resides. You want set
your PATH variable rather than cd-ing to the directory where "ncl"
resides and trying to run it there. This is because running ncl depends
on it being able to find other executables, like "ncargpath".
