Re: reading all the variables from a netCDF when the variable names are unknown (or too many)

Sorry, not an answer - I guess we need an "eval" function for NCL -
it would provide a solution for similar situations. For instance,
in your case, we could have done the following:

eval("varnames(ivar) = fin-> $varnames(ivar)") ; i guess..
