"Mechanically" speaking, there is no reason why the
scripts could not be applied to other regions.
Just change the lat and lon regions of interest.
For Africa centric analysis it is likely that
data spanning 0-to-360 will have to be 'flipped'
to span -180-to-180 using the "lonFlip" function.

"Scientifically" speaking: Is the 20-100 day band
pass filter used for the MJO appropriate for
AEWs? Are the MJO life-cycle composite diagnostics
applicable to AEWs?
