WRF transect plot

Hi,

I need to make a vertical-slice plot using some WRF dataset. The idea is
to plot a variable in the vertical just like as it is shown here:

but instead of plotting along a fixed latitude/longitude line, I would
like to plot a vertical transect crossing different lat/lon lines. For
example, if I want a vertical plot of a variable using a initial
lat/lon, let's say, over Japan, and the end point over the Gulf of Alaska.
