Hi,

Yours files need to be named with an explicit file-type suffix, such
as:

wrfout_d01_2008-08-29_00:00:00.nc

which tells NCL the file is a NetCDF. Note that the files don't
necessarily have to be named that way in the filesystem, rather just
in the addfiles() statement.
