Thanks for the help Adam/Dennis. I was just wondering how much memory you
are running on your local linux box? The machine I am using has 16 GB, so I
think the problem was somewhere in my script.

Also, I notice your script uses a CE projection. Would I be able to
successfully generate the plot with res@mpProjection = "LambertEqualArea" ?
