Ziying,

You just use gsn_csm_contour.

Hi,

I am using ftp://ftp.caps.ou.edu/users/yli/oban/oban02.ncl
to plot ftp://ftp.caps.ou.edu/users/yli/oban/oban02.pdf

The area over right edge is empty. All other plots of map
and contours are absolutely correct and match each other
exactly. All data are under the same directory
ftp://ftp.caps.ou.edu/users/yli/oban/

Any help is appreciated !

Yongzuo

Hi Debasish,
Perhaps I am not understanding what you want, but could you draw your
reference line as transparent or white, and follow example #24:
http://www.ncl.ucar.edu/Applications/xy.shtml#ex24
to fill the are between your moving reference line and your regular data
line?

Hi Yongzuo,
It's because the map projection parameters you are setting do not match the projection of the data. Try setting mpCenterLonF to 90.

NCL plots correctly!
Your data does not go to the "right edge".

Dave and Dennis,
The plot using "stereographic" for
"polar stereographic map projection" data is perfect now.
ftp://ftp.caps.ou.edu/users/yli/oban/oban02.ncl
ftp://ftp.caps.ou.edu/users/yli/oban/oban02.pdf
Here is a summary.
My regional data obtained from "polar stereographic
map projection" can be plotted by NCL "stereographic".
However, "mpCenterLatF = 90. " must be used because
polar projection is centered at "north pole".
Thanks.

Hi Emilie,
Thanks for letting me know about this. You found a bug in the add_map_tickmarks routine.
The fix is pretty simple. I've included a new version of this function, or you can fix the bug yourself, if you've made changes to this function. Simply add the two lines:
  bres@gsnDraw = False
  bres@gsnFrame = False
after
bres = True ; Above call will set bres to True if no "tm" resources, so
; make sure it is True still.

The function nicely adds the tickmarks of the individual maps, but for some reason it also adds tickmarks to a nonexisting central plot. See attached screenshot. Is there any way to stop this?

Hi all,
I currently meet a new case when I want to plot a two-dimensional
cross-section (pressure/time) of dataset (which is 2D dataset). In normal
case, both dimension (pressure&time) are 1D data. But in my case, Pressure
is 2D dataset and second dimension of Time is 1D.
Specifically, First dimension of Pressure field is the number of
observations in one run and second dimension is pressure level actually
observed during that specific observation.
Would you please suggest me which plot type I should choose if I'd like to
generate a plot like the one showed in the top of this page:
http://www.ncl.ucar.edu/Applications/height_time.shtml ? I may want to
represent all pressure info in one graphic.
Thanks
Ziying
