We have a version of NCL 5.2.1 compiled for gcc 3.4.6. It's under the OPeNDAP-enabled list of binaries.

ncl_ncarg-5.2.1.Linux_x86_64_gcc346.tar.gz

A word of caution: we may not be able to continue provide gcc 3.4.6 binaries, because this is an older version of gcc and most of our systems have been upgraded to 4.x or later.
