Re: newpdf option ...

Using your scripts, I was able to narrow the problem down to the use
of the high-resolution map database (res@mpDataBaseVersion = "HighRes").

It doesn't appear to have anything to do with the contours. Also, I
was only able to reproduce this problem on our Linux system, and not
my personal Mac.

I've filed a ticket on this, but gave it a low priority since the plot
still looks fine. Let me know if it becomes an issue. The ticket is
NCL-1210.
