question about dpres_hybrid_ccm

Hello NCL users,

I am trying to use dpres_hybrid_ccm in a vertical integration
calculation (following Example 3 at http://www.ncl.ucar.edu/Document/
Functions/Built-in/dpres_hybrid_ccm.shtml) and am running into a
problem with the dimensions when I try to multiply qu by dp. I see
in the example that the number of levels in dp is lev-1, but it's not
clear how to deal with the mismatch in levels between the original
variable and dp. Any help is appreciated.

I have monthly qu that I calculated from 6hrly data:

Variable: qu
Type: float
Total Size: 15667200 bytes
             3916800 values
Number of Dimensions: 4
Dimensions and sizes: [time | 60] x [lev | 24] x [lat | 40] x [lon

Coordinates:
             time: [40150.25..41945.25]

I also have monthly ps that I calculated using the 6 hrly data:

             163200 values

   average_op_ncl : dim_avg_n over dimension(s): time

I use the following line to calculate dp, but there is a mismatch
between the number of levels in qu and dp.
dp = dpres_hybrid_ccm (ps,p0,hyai,hybi) ; Pa [kg/(m s2)]

If I try to multiply qu*dp (as in the example) I get the following error
fatal:Mul: Dimension size, for dimension number 1, of operands does
not match, can't continue
