Query about uv2dvG_Wrap and gradsg

Hi,

I am calculating divergence and gradient. I have a question about two
functions in NCL "uv2dvG_Wrap" and "gradsg". I am using these two
functions on CAM3.0 output and the plots doesn't looks right.
I want to know is it safe to apply these functions on u,v, uT and vT
from the model output directly as these two functions are using
Spherepack subroutine in spherical coordinates.
