That server could have some problem.

Can you try script:

 flnm = "http://nomads.ncep.noaa.gov:9090/dods/gfs_hd/gfs_hd20120907/gfs_hd_00z"
 exists = isfilepresent(flnm)
 print("File: <" + flnm + ">, existence: " + exists)

 f = addfile(flnm, "r")
 print(f)

 and let us know if there is any problem?
