Hello,
Sorry for the delay. You did not notify ncl-talk that you
had sent the file and script. It was just happenstance
that the files you sent were called to my attention.
Multiple invocations of smth9 did do the smoothing.
However, while smth9 will workd on any 2 dimensional grid,
it was originally designed to work with rectilinear grids.
I made minor changes to your script to panel the following:
top: original data
mid: one pass of smth9 (0.5, 0.5)
bot: 15 passes with smth9 (0.5, 0.5). Just to see the effects.
The figure is getting smoother. However, the plots still show
dome ragged issues.
