WRF data index/subscript

Hi,
I have a 2d time series ( time x lat x lon) from WRF output, and want to
calculate the area-average over several sub-regions with known bounds
(latmin, latmax, lonmin, lonmax). I find it hard to get the lat and lon
indices for each subregion. Is there a function that I can use to calculate
the indices?
