Error displaying plots: "Can't initialize device"

Hi,

I have not been able to display any plots since a few days.

When I type "ctrans -d X11 filename.ncgm", I get an error message:

ctrans: FATAL - open(/usr/local/lib/ncarg/graphcaps/x11,O_RDONLY)
ctrans: FATAL - Can't initialize device(/usr/local/lib/ncarg/graphcaps/x11)
[ open(/usr/local/lib/ncarg/graphcaps/x11,O_RDONLY) ]

Even if I choose to display directly on X11 workstation instead of creating
a ncgm file, a plot flashes for a fraction of a second and disappears.

The problem does not arise for a specific code. Every code give the same
error message; even the examples from the ncar website. However, all these
scripts were working fine and plots were being displayed properly till a
few days ago.

It would be great if I could get some feedback on how to approach this
problem.

Thank you,

Roshil
