meridional gradient

Can anyone suggest me a correct way to calculate meridional gradient of
zonal mean temperature with NCL, I got a wrong results using
"center_finite_diff_n" for T [time, lat,level]. I think, it's easy way to
do, but did not get any idea where to start.
