NCL Community,

The NCL development team is happy to announce that 64-bit binary
distributions of NCL for Linux hosts are available online at the Earth
System Grid (ESG) website:
         http://www.earthsystemgrid.org

There are two distributions available:
For x86_64-based hosts, built with PGI v5.2-4 compilers
For Itanium-based hosts, built with GCC v3.3 compilers

Please note that 64-bit NCL distributions are not OPeNDAP-enabled as
OPeNDAP is not supported in 64-bit environments. All other ancillary
software extensions (vis5D+, udunits, HDF-EOS) are supported.

To visit the download site:
You must have an account to download binary distributions; please see
         http://www.earthsystemgrid.org/security/accountRequestPage.do

Once you've obtained an account, please log in via the "Login" tab at
the main ESG web page. After logging in, please access the "Shortcuts
menu" pull-down and choose "Latest NCL release," where you'll find both
OPeNDAP- and non-OPeNDAP-enabled binary distributions, for many
different platforms.

Your feedback is always welcome. Please email with questions/comments,
thanks!

-Rick.
