Dear NCL users,
Greetings. I am new to NCL script. I have the NCEP data of ‘slp.mon.mean.nc (three dimensional) and uwnd.mon.mean.nc’(four dimensional) for the period of 1976 to 2006. From these data now I want to calculate the monsoon index by using the following equation
Index = (U850hpa – U200hpa)/SD (100-130 E, 0-10 N) + (SLP160 E – SLP110 E)/SD 10 – 50 N
here sd is standard deviation of (U850hpa – U200hpa) and (SLP160 E – SLP110 E) respectively
Suppose A= (U850hpa – U200hpa) and B = (SLP160 E – SLP110 E)
‘A’ has to average over the region (100-130 E, 0-10 N) and B has to average over the region between 10 – 50 N
after that, the (U850-U200) and (SLP110-SLP160E) has to divided by respective
standard deviations
Then finally addition of both A and B
Index = A/SD + B/SD
Kindly anybody provide ncl script to calculate the above equation
Many advance thanks for your kind help
With best regards
Praveen
