calculate the Dec-Jan means for monthly data?

Hi,all

     I want to get annually dec-jan means from a monthly array x(time|:,lon|:,lat|:), with time dimension spaning from dec 1959
to Jan 2009 (monthly resolution). Could I do it without loop? Or how to use loop to resolve it? Thanks!
