different levels for fill and contours

Hi,
is there a way of plotting filled contours and contours withe different levels? For example, often it looks nice to see colour filled levels with contours at a reduced set of levels to keep a plot "clean" from too many contour levels.

a pointer to any example would be great. i will try to do it with overlays (should be ok) but if it can be done with a single set of resources then it would be easier.
