Hi, Jon

You can create a directory wherever you want and save the colormaps you want
to use there (even the ones not supported by your version of NCL).

Then just define the environment variable NCARG_COLORMAPS to the directory
you have created. When you choose the colormap you want to use in a script,
NCL will look for the color tables in that directory. I have all my color
tables there, including the ones that were already in my NCL version.

You can download the newest colormaps in
http://www.ncl.ucar.edu/current_release.shtml
