How could I get the corresponding latitude at each longitude for a chosen value's contour?

Hi, all

I want to get the corresponding latitude at each longitude for a
5880 gpm contour line of 500hpa
height field, for example, at a region of (5N-45N,110E-150E) in the western
Pacific. The source data is from
500hpa height field of NCEP daily averages. What should I do?

I suppose to do regridding first, to convert the lower resolution
(2.5degree) to the higher resoltion (0.1 resolution, for example), and then
locate the grid with a value closest to 5880gpm. Is it feasible?

Another puzzle is from the question of which regridding function
should be used, I browsed the examples
of "regridding" and find most of them deal with the jobs transferring
higher resolution to lower resolution. As
my job is to do the opposite jobs, I doubted which function is better for
transferring the lower resolution to the
higher?

       Thanks!

Leo
