Cyclogenesis

In Isard et al. (2000 MWR), they identified cyclogenesis
cases over the Great Lakes as having a closed low
pressure center over the lakes basin with at least one
4 hPa contour.

Could someone recommend an approach to apply this
in NCL using fixed grid (regional model) output?
