ncl_convert2nc error

Hello
i am trying to convert TRMM(Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission) data from
the hdf formate to nc formate using the ncl_convert2nc
when i used the command i got the following error

 ncl_convert2nc file.hdf
if: Expression Syntax.

i am using csh , and this is my csh version
tcsh 6.17.00 (Astron) 2009-07-10 (x86_64-unknown-linux) options
wide,nls,dl,al,kan,rh,color,filec

any suggestion
