Does NCL v 5.2.1 support vis5d

Hi,

I ran the example script in
http://www.ncl.ucar.edu/Document/Functions/Built-in/v5d_create.shtml
to create a vis5d file. However, NCL gave me error msg suggesting
v5d_create is "possibly an undefined procedure".

I'm using NCL version 5.2.1. It is quite old but the pages for v5d
commands do not claim anything like "available from version x.xx".
They do not suggest any libs be loaded, either.

I wonder how can I get the example script working. Appreciate your help.
