Re: Vertically integrated moisture

FYI: The NCEP reanalyses (I and II) are not the best to use
for moisture related research in the tropics or S. hemisphere.
The 'data assimilation' (frozen January 1995) did not use the
satellite radiances but, rather, derived information which
had issues. Basically, in the S. Hem (except over land
in regions with abundant observations) you are looking at
      the NCEP Jan 1995 model.

It is suggested that you use ERA-Interim or MERRA

Perhaps you would find the following useful.
Many quantiies are available.

ftp ftp.cgd.ucar.edu
anonymous
email
cd archive/BUDGETS/ERAI
ls
prompt
get ERAI.UQ.1979-2012.nc
get ERAI.VQ.1979-2012.nc
cd ../MERRA
get UFLXQV.mon.mean.nc
get VFLXQV.mon.mean.nc
quit

Good luck
These are monthly means values derived using 6-hrly data.
The contain 'Mass corrected vertically integrated {zonal/meridional}
moisture transport.
