libnio.a missing

Hi all,

I recently compiled ncl-5.1.0 from source (I know it's not recommended, but my system is built with gcc-4.3.4, and I couldn't find a corresponding binary), and it seems that NIO was not compiled. During "Configure -v" I wasn't even asked whether I would like to build NIO, so I don't know what I missed.

Now I need to compile PyNIO, but it (obviously) needs libnio.

Thanks in advance for the help.
