Hello
I have a macbook 10.5 Intel. I downloaded ncl_ncarg-5.1.1.MaOS_i386_9.7.0. It is in my home directory (Users/jonathanwsmith/). I am unsure of which file I should use to set the environmental variables in the directory. .profile is the one I have been using. It looks like the following:
est -r /sw/bin/init.sh && . /sw/bin/init.sh
##
# Your previous /Users/jonathanwsmith/.profile file was backed up as /Users/jonathanwsmith/.profile.macports-saved_2009-07-27_at_20:29:34
##
# MacPorts Installer addition on 2009-07-27_at_20:29:34: adding an appropriate PATH variable for use with MacPorts.
export PATH=/opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:$PATH
export GADDIR=/Users/jonathanwsmith/grads-1.9b4
export GASCRP=/Users/jonathanwsmith/grads-1.9b4/lib
export NCARG_ROOT=/Users/jonathanwsmith/ncl_ncarg-5.1.1.MacOS_i386_9.7.0/lib/ncarg
export PATH=/Users/jonathanwsmith/ncl_ncarg-5.1.1.MacOS_i386_9.7.0/bin:$PATH
# Finished adapting your PATH environment variable for use with MacPorts.
# MacPorts Installer addition on 2009-07-27_at_20:29:34: adding an appropriate MANPATH variable for use with MacPorts.
export MANPATH=/opt/local/share/man:$MANPATH
# Finished adapting your MANPATH environment variable for use with MacPorts.
I feel the settings above are correct.
When I put in the following command I get an error
jwsmith:~ jonathanwsmith$ ng4ex gsun01n
Resource directory </Users/jonathanwsmith/ncl_ncarg-5.1.1.MacOS_i386_9.7.0/lib/ncarg/lib/ncarg/resfiles> does not exist.
The resfiles are in this directory.
I do not plan to use X11 because I will save the files as .ps or .pdf. Is X11 absolutley necessary?
I am uncertain of what I am doing wrong
I will take any suggestions:
Jonathan
