Hi Dorita,
For future reference, please post installation questions to our
ncl-install_at_ucar.edu email list. You need to subscribe:
http://mailman.ucar.edu/mailman/listinfo/ncl-install
The answer to your question depends on whether you have a 32-bit or
64-bit system, and whether you are running gcc V3 or 4. Do a "uname -a"
to see if you have a 32-bit or 64-bit system, and then a "gcc
--version" to get the version of gcc. Then, you can go to the ESG site
(as instructed on the NCL download page), and see the following options
for Linux binaries:
NCL 5.0.0 64-bit binary for IA64 chips for LINUX (compiled with gcc 3.x)
NCL 5.0.0 32-bit binary for i686 chips for LINUX (compiled with gcc 3.x)
NCL 5.0.0 32-bit binary for i686 chips for LINUX (compiled with gcc 4.x)
NCL 5.0.0 64-bit binary for x86_64 chips for LINUX (compiled with gcc
3.x)
NCL 5.0.0 64-bit binary for x86_64 chips for LINUX (compiled with gcc
4.x)
I'll put this information on our download page as we've had other users
ask the same question. If you have further problems installing NCL,
feel free to email me separately.
