William,
There are a number of different ways to learn about NCL:
- We have a local workshop 3-4 times a year here in Boulder. You
can check the schedule at:
http://www.ncl.ucar.edu/Training/Workshops/
- The PowerPoints for the above workshop are available for download:
http://www.ncl.ucar.edu/Training/Workshops/lectures.shtml
- There's a line-by-line graphical description of using the
generic gsn_xxx plotting interfaces at:
http://www.ncl.ucar.edu/Document/Manuals/Getting_Started/examples.shtml
While these examples don't talk about the gsn_csm_xxx scripts, they
do offer some invaluable insight in using NCL.
- There are a series of "application examples" which are full NCL
scripts for accomplishing some task, most of them dealing with
graphical concepts. You can browse these examples at:
http://www.ncl.ucar.edu/Applications/
- There's a series of simple-to-complex graphical exercises, that
are part of the workshop, available at:
http://www.ncl.ucar.edu/Training/Workshops/Exercises/
You can also visit the "Getting started" link at:
http://www.ncl.ucar.edu/get_started.shtml
for more basic information about using NCL.
