question about algorithm and codes for WRF interpolation functions

Hi,

I am using NCL to examine results of WRF ARW runs.
I'd like to know how NCL functions, such as wrf_interp_3d_z and wrf_interp_1d,
deals with interpolation in vertical levels.
Could anyone direct me where I can find codes or algorithms for these build-in
functions?
