Moto,

Either set of binaries will probably work, but I recommend the 4.2.2
since that's a new version of gfortran.

Meanwhile, if you try to run ncl and get an error about libgfortran
being missing, then please see #3 at:

   http://www.ncl.ucar.edu/Download/install.shtml#LinuxMacNotes

If this doesn't help, then look at #2.
