Hi Louis,
If you create a Legend as a managed annotation of an XyPlot or a
ContourPlot you cannot control the
marker size independently of the plot object. However, you can use
gsn_create_legend or gsn_legend_ndc.
There are a number of examples at
http://www.ncl.ucar.edu/Applications/legend.shtml
that should help.
