If you want a single file with the "combined" seperate files
then the netCDF operator [ncrcat] is the best approach.
NCL: If the data are on separate files and you want to read
variables that span multiple files , then use "addfiles"
http://www.ncl.ucar.edu/Document/Functions/Built-in/addfiles.shtml
[let 'flnm' be the root name of your files]
diri = "./" ; input directory
fils = systemfunc ("ls "+diri+"flnm*.nc") ; file paths
print(fils)
f = addfiles (fils, "r") ; note the "s"
T = f[:]->T ; read T from all files
printVarSummary(T)
