Label a line

Hi,
   I was wondering whether there is XyPlot resource that can control a
number of labels when labeling a line. Like example 14 at
http://www.ncl.ucar.edu/Applications/Scripts/xy_14.ncl, there are 8
"labels". How can I change the number to 1? I searched XyPlot resources and
did not find one that controls it. Thanks,
