Hi,
I'm wondering why for example 1 in:

http://www.ncl.ucar.edu/Document/Functions/Built-in/wgt_areaave.shtml

that when I multiply area by the number of lons (dimsizes(lon)) (and
scale to convert m^3 to km^3) that I don't get something approximating
the accepted value for the area of earth, 510,072,000 km^2
but half 255,082,544.8610497 ?

I'm using my own "u(lat, lon)" which is global in extent.

Regards,
Mark.
