Re: nc file open error

There could be a number of things wrong here. There's not enough information to go on.

What happens when you type:

   ncl_filedump /data/oldfarm2/colfi/cam3.1.p2/daily_b30030b_CCSM/b30.030b.cam2.h1.TAUX.1880-01-01_cat_1889-12-31.nc

On the same machine, are you able to type:

  ncdump /data/oldfarm2/colfi/cam3.1.p2/daily_b30030b_CCSM/b30.030b.cam2.h1.TAUX.1880-01-01_cat_1889-12-31.nc

?

I'm trying to verify if ncdump and ncl_filedump (which is basically the same as using "addfile" inside an NCL script) are behaving differently on this file.

Is the file a NetCDF 4 file by any chance?
